Faculty and staff get 35% discount at Winslow

On the first day of classes Monday, January 12, 2009, Gina Winchester, Staff Regent, and Phil Schooley, Staff Congress President, took advantage of a new employee discount on campus compliments of Mr. Richard Fritz and MSU Food Service. Starting this semester, all faculty and staff employees can benefit from using their staff ID to get a 35% discount on meal purchases at Winslow Cafeteria. The discount automatically applied will result in a charge of $4.00 for breakfast, $5.00 for lunch (including the Sunday Buffet) and $6.00 for dinner plus 6% sales tax. These prices will be good for dinner meals if staff wanted to bring in their family as long as they present their current MSU ID card. All meals are served on an “all you care to eat” basis which includes salads, soups, entrees, vegetables, starches, beverages, desserts and special events. However, no carryout will be permitted with this price point discount. Normal service hours (M-F) Breakfast are 7:00 to 11:00 a.m., Lunch 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Dinner 4:00 to 8:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday hours of operation are: Brunch 11:00 am – 2:00 pm, Dinner 4:00 – 7:30 pm. The idea of a discount on campus for food purchases came to the attention of the Director of Food Service, Richard Fritz, as a suggestion from the recent staff survey conducted by Staff Congress. The intent of the discount is three fold: to encourage faculty, staff and their families to dine together on campus with the students; to make it more attractive and convenient to dine on campus; and help ease the burden of meal purchases in a tight budget year when no raises were given.
